Stay at the award-winning Mfuwe Lodge found inside the park, found just five minutes’ drive from the main gate. The lodge’s charm is instantly apparent. Under a canopy of ebony and mahogany, its eighteen air-conditioned chalets are designed around the banks of two lagoons where a continuous flow of wildlife will have you captivated as you relax on the open deck or relish a dip in the swimming pool.  The interior of the lodge is an elegant complement to its natural surroundings.

This region of the park is famous for its prolific game like antelope, crocodile, giraffe, hippos, and buffalo are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon, in November elephants typically roam through the lobby, attracted by a nearby wild mango tree.

Kuyenda Bushcamp

A charming and rustic camp that offers an authentic taste of the African bush.

There’s something special about Kuyenda. Located beneath shady trees by the Manzi River, it may be the simplest of our camps, but Kuyenda personifies the genuine charm of old Africa with its cluster of traditional thatched grass huts and back-to-nature feel. As for the wildlife, you hardly require to look for it as it will come to you. Settle down in the parlor and look out over the rippling grasses of the adjacent plains where the production of the African wilderness is in your face at any time. Kuyenda’s private atmosphere enhanced by the exceptional couple who run the camp. The always  Babette Alfieri and Phil Berry, one of Zambia’s most accomplished naturalists. No one knows Kuyenda as they do, and they make you feel more cherished during your stay at the camp.

Chamilandu Bush Camp

A  Stunning camp on one of the South Luangwa’s prime river locations, classic for a bird’s eye view of the wildlife that the river and its pools attract.

Early morning scenes don’t get much better than the soothing waters of the Luangwa River, the soft rise of the Chindeni Hills and a vast African sky – especially when you’re lying in a four-poster bed in a beautiful tree-house. You don’t have to move away from your bed to see the wildlife from your point of view. You can see animals wander across the landscape, or sway through the trees.

There are three stilted chalets at this independent camp, set on the riverbank below a soaring ebony grove. Fancy a sundowner from the rest of the thatched dining area and bar as you observe the wildlife at the river. Outstanding game viewing and understated elegance make Chamilandu a place to remember.

Chindeni Bush Camp

A majestic tented camp Found on the edge of a permanent lagoon having Chindeni Hills presenting a gorgeous backdrop. Located strategically at the edge of a lagoon where hippos and elephants wallow with the background of Chindeni.

Sleeping under the canvas enkindles the sense of adventure in you. The backdrop of the Chindeni multiplies the thrill with comfort all in the tents. Look at your deck into the lagoon that is decorated with birds and lots of animals for miles. Or else rest with a drink a shared lounge and dining area surrounded by ebony trees with a spectacular view of the serene lagoon and its inhabitants.

Bilimungwe Bush Camp

Drawn in by the charm of Bilimungwe.

The authentically traditional African Bushcamp meets elegance and style to create a beautiful camp that feels like it is naturally apart of the landscape. Located under a big mahogany tree, the heart of Bilimungwe where a cool, shady parlor area looking out into one of the camps three waterholes. Resting in a cozy armchair with a sundowner and relax as you watch an excellent display of spectacular birds and animals that feel at home here as you do. Wide open waters of the Luangwa River are on your doorstep and a nearby plain where leopard prowl, it’s clear that this is a nature lover’s paradise, and with Manda Chisanga – Bilimungwe’s award-winning resident guide to leading you. If Manda is not available, another guide from The Bushcamp Company’s excellent and experienced team will be on hand.

Kapamba Bush Camp

An Isolated romantic camp found in the best location on the Kapamba River, and one of only two Bushcamps to be open from April to January others being Zungulila. In an isolated corner of the South Luangwa National Park lies Kapamba, a camp that combines the isolation and superb game-viewing opportunities of a true Bushcamp with a touch of, dare we say it, luxury?

Found on the banks of the shallow, spring-fed eponymous river, Kapamba is surrounded by some of the park’s most abundant game. Viewing an elephant while it takes a dip in the river can be quite an encounter when you’re resting in your private plunge pool. The camp has a first bar, and dining room are positioned under a huddle of matumi and sausage trees, with a full floor that expands out with views of the Kapamba River.  Not close enough for you? Why not experience your G&T from the middle of the river itself, your feet soaked in the calm, crystal shallows.

Perfect for small private groups, this remote, traditional tented safari camp delivers a genuine African safari adventure.
