CAPE TOWN

About Destination

Cape Town is a port on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the Imposing Table Mountain. Slowly rotating cable cars climb to the mountain’s flat top, from which there are sweeping views of the city, the busy harbor, and boats heading for Robben Island, the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, which is now a living museum.

Cape Town is fondly known as the Mother City – but Mother of all Cities might be a more correct description. From jaw-dropping spectacle to centuries-old building mingling with minimalist modern design, this scenic South Africa beauty surrounds it all. Its buzzing harbor and streets house nightlife and storefronts, and its beaches and mountainous surrounding are bursting with flora and fauna. The city, set against the backdrop of the famous Table Mountain plateau and sapphire blue Table Bay, famous for its great white sharks and seal community. Cape Town’s vibrant history, modern culture, and unbelievable attractions make it a true metropolis on the coast.

Cape Town has the oldest buildings and the museum in the country; world-rated restaurants and hotels, Robben Island (a World Heritage Site), spectacular beaches and vineyards, the V&A Waterfront, the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (part of the Cape Floristic World Heritage Site), whale-watching, penguins, and internationally renowned theaters and festivals; and that’s just the start!
