Overview:

Explore three of Zimbabwe’s top area s at a great offering! An 8-night set in three independent safari camps: 3 nights at The Hide Safari Camp in Hwange National Park, two nights at Changa Safari Camp on Lake Kariba in Matusadona National Park, and three nights at John’s Camp in World Heritage site Mana Pools.

Zimbabwe is a country in southern Africa occupying among the Limpopo and Zambezi Rivers and appreciated for its dramatic scenery and various wildlife, much of it in parks, stores, and safari areas. A variety matches the wonders of the scene, and stolidity  of wildlife similar to the world’s best, and the country has no less than four World Heritage Sites, as recorded by UNESCO; the legendary Victoria Falls, beautiful Mana Pools National Park, Matobo Hills and the majestic medieval African cities of Khami and Great Zimbabwe.

Day 1: The Hide

Arriving at Victoria Falls Airport, you will go by departure customs and onto your scheduled charter flight from  Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park a short trip of 45 minutes. At Umtishibi Airstrip or Hwange Main Airport, in Hwange National Park a spokesperson from The Hide Safari Lodge will meet you. The road into the camp game seeing course will take about 40 minutes from Umtishibi Airstrip, or 1hr30m from Hwange Main.

The Hide is a family owned, and run safari camp that was built in 1992 by the Prestons’ and situated on a private concession on the Eastern boundary of Hwange National Park. The waterhole, just meters from The Hide, brings such a diversity of life that you may not require to roam far from your terrace to be a part of the action. Comfort at the Hideis made up of 10 Deluxe Tents and a  Safari House. With en-suite bathrooms and individual verandas overlooking the busy waterhole. There is a, two underground hides, an underground wine cellar,  swimming pool, lounge, bar, upstairs viewing deck, mini-museum and a complimentary treehouse sleep out. Wi-Fi is available.

 

Day 2 – 3: The Hide

Morning hikes are there for the excitement of meeting wildlife on its terms and exploring the little surprises of the bush. Alternatively, the day can be consumed additional afield on game drives in search of wild animals. We like to do things correctly, so cocktails are an essential part of the experience. Hwange National Park is the biggest park in Zimbabwe. Renowned for its strong elephant population. The attraction of this area is in its diversity vast, palm-fringed plains and grasslands interspersed with acacia woodlands and teak woods and this variety guarantees the sighting of significant numbers of animals all year round. Of course, enthusiastic photographers will want to spend time in the famous waterhole.

 

Day 4: Changa Safari Camp

Today you are off onto your next station and will catch your 1hr30m flight to Lake Kariba. Arriving at Lake Kariba, you will be joined by a Changa spokesperson and transported to the stunning Changa Safari Camp.

Lapped by] Lake Kariba, overshadowed by Mopane woodland and secluded from the world, Changa Safari Camp is an oasis of peace and an excellent retreat from the stress and bustle of modern life. Changa has been composed to blend in with the surroundings using natural materials. The cottage furniture has been made using Zimbabwe’s most beautiful teak, and the bar has been constructed around the frame of an old boat. You will experience a lunch watching out over the lake, and then you can pick to either unwind by the pool, hop on the afternoon or evening game drive or try out at fishing for the famous fighting tiger fish.

 

Day 5: Changa Safari Camp

An average day in the camp begins early to match with the best times to view animals. Awoken by the age-old “knock knock” at your door, accompanied by your choice of tea and coffee. You will then leave for your morning venture; either a game drives or walk or a fishing safari. The competition in the area is excellent, home to a wide variety of mammals, and above 350 bird species. Then, just before it is too hot, we’ll have you back at camp for a gratifying full meal set up. After lunch why not jump on a short boat ride over the lake to the beautiful Sanyati Gorge, where you can drift tranquility through the cliffs for up to 10 km. The Sanyati Gorge is both perfect and undisturbed with plenty of birdlife, the random sighting of antelope and great fishing.

 

Day 6: John’s Camp

After an early meal, you will be taken back to the airstrip to get your 30 min flight to Mana Pools, and the John’s Camp team will find you. The title ‘Mana’ implies ‘four’ in the local Shona language; this pertains to the four large ponds inland from the Zambezi River. Mana Pools is habitat to a wide variety of mammals and over 350 bird species.

 

Day 7 – 8: John’s Camp

A typical day on safari has visitors woken before sunrise for a cup of tea or coffee. Heading out on either a game walk or drive returning to camp for a late morning brunch. Midday siesta time is spent in the field and afternoon tea served at 3.30pm and out again for an afternoon of game watching. Fishing at the banks of the river is also an opportunity. Cocktails can be enjoyed while out on your afternoon game drive or back in camp. All guests will be back in the field by 6.30pm.  Warm bucket baths will be ready on your arrival. Huddle around the campfire to share your tales from the day before experiencing a three-course dinner.

 

Day 9: Transit

On the final day, you will be transported back to Mana Main Airstrip in time for your Harare charter then your onward connection.
