Kafunta River Lodge is set in the riverside forest on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. This classic safari lodge offers guests all the comforts while being situated in unspoiled wilderness. With 8 private chalets and 2 luxury suites, there is something for all discerning guests. Central to the lodge is the spacious bar and dining area. Built around a semi-evergreen wild mango tree and thatched in the traditional style, the lodge offers superb panoramic views over the Luangwa River and the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. Great game viewing and bird watching from the lodge is guaranteed.
Adjacent to the bar is the pool and the only natural hot spring tub in the Luangwa Valley. This unique hot tub is fed from a source on Kafunta’ s grounds, offering a constant temperature of 38 degrees. Here you can enjoy pure relaxation while at the same being presented with magnificent views over the floodplains and the Luangwa River. Kafunta River Lodge has its own pontoon 5 minutes from the lodge, the adventurous crossing takes you into the more remote areas of the park – an alternative to the main gate 10 km (game driving) North of the lodge.
Island Bush Camp, South Luangwa National Park
This small, personalized camp lies under a grove of Mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River, Zambia. The Island Bush Camp offers rustic accommodation in grass/reed huts, with the modern comforts of hot showers and running water. Each chalet has a private verandah overlooking the Luangwa River. The Island Bush Camp is 2 hours’ drive south of Kafunta River Lodge in a very remote game-rich area of the southern section of the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia.
Far from the more well-beaten tracks, Island Bush Camp offers complete solitude and the chance to explore the bush on small and exclusive walking safaris in the woodland and open plains that exist in this area. Guided by some of the Valleys very best guides and escorted by armed official wildlife scout ensuring your safety and giving you an exciting and educational view of the bush at ground level where the sights and sounds heighten your senses. Although the main activity at Island Bush camp is walking safaris, the camp also uses a safari vehicle to get into a variety of walking areas or return from a walk after dark to discover some of the nocturnal wildlife in the area.
Three Rivers Camp, South Luangwa National Park
Three Rivers Camp is the latest addition to the Kafunta Safaris’ portfolio and is set at the confluence of the Luangwa, Kapamba and Lusangazi Rivers in South Luangwa, Zambia. The stylish tents lay under shady sausage trees and are facing either the Luangwa River or the game-rich lagoon.
Sitting in the cozy chairs near the dining area, you will have boundless views of the Luangwa River and the Kapamba River, with their white beaches where hippos love basking in the sun. Or choose to rest on the plush daybeds on top of your private viewing deck and observe giraffes and waterbucks strolling down to the lagoon. Bordering the national park, the area around the camp is unspoiled and teeming with wildlife and offers unrivalled game viewing.
This package is the perfect extension to the Victoria Falls package providing a safari experience in the world-class but less crowded National Parks of Africa. There are a number of other good lodges located in region and packages can be arranged to these lodges such as the Mfuwe Lodge, Kapamba, Zungulila, Chindeni.

Day 1: Arrival Meet& Greet/ Flight to Mfuwe
You fly to Lusaka International Airport in Zambia (LUN), and on arrival you will be welcomed by our representative who will then help you to check in onto the flight to Mfuwe.
1hr 10 minutes and upon arrival at Mfuwe airport, you will be met by your hosts from Kafunta River Lodge and transferred to the lodge. On arrival at your lodge, you may want to undertake a night game drive or relax at your lodge enjoying a bush boma under the stars.
Day 2: Kafunta Lodge, South Luangwa National Park
A full day to explore everything South Luangwa National Park has to offer, including game drives with knowledgeable guides in the park and walking safaris with experienced guides through this wildlife-rich park.
Day 3: Transfer to Island Bush Camp
After breakfast, you'll be transfer through South Luangwa National Park to your remote and intimate bush camp on the Luangwa River in an open vehicle. You will arrive at the camp in time for lunch and relaxation, followed by afternoon tea, a night game drive, and a return to the camp in time for dinner and bed.
Day 4 & 5: Island Bush Camp, South Luangwa NP
After a morning breakfast and walking safari or morning game drive, you'll return to the camp in time for lunch, relax, and afternoon tea, before heading out for a night game drive, dinner, and bed.
Day 6: Transfer to Three Rivers Buch Camp
After breakfast, you will be transferred through South Luangwa National Park to Three Rivers Bush Camp, where you will spend the next three nights. Arrive in time for lunch, then unwind with afternoon tea and a night game drive before returning for dinner and bedtime.
Day 7 & 8: Three Rivers BushCamp, South Luangwa NP
Breakfast in the morning, followed by a morning game drive or walking safari before returning to the camp for lunch and relaxation, followed by a night game drive, dinner, and bedtime.
Day 9: Transfer to Kafunta Lodge
After a morning breakfast and game drive or walking safari, you will be transferred to Kafunta Lodge for your final night in an open vehicle. You'll arrive in time to unwind and go on a night game drive.
Day 10: Departure
Today you have breakfast and morning game drive then you will be transferred to Mfuwe airport depending on your flight time to Lusaka and onwards connection. You will be met by our representative at Lusaka International airport who will then assist your with luggage and check in.
