The Itinerary
Day 1
Flight to Mfuwe, Transfer to Luangwa River Camp
Your adventure begins at Lusaka International Airport, where a representative will assist you with your luggage and check-in for your flight to Mfuwe. After a scenic one-hour flight, your safari guide will greet you at Mfuwe Airport and drive you to Luangwa River Camp. The journey takes you through vibrant local villages and lush bushland, offering a glimpse into Zambia’s rich culture and landscapes.
Nestled under an ancient ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River, the camp overlooks the game-rich Luangwa Wafwa. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy lunch or afternoon tea before heading out on an exhilarating afternoon and night game drive.
Day 2
Exploring South Luangwa National Park
Spend the day exploring South Luangwa National Park, renowned for its dense wildlife populations and stunning scenery. Choose between a 4×4 game drive or a walking safari, where you’ll get up close to elephants, lions, and a variety of bird species. As the sun sets, enjoy sundowners in the bush before returning to camp for a peaceful evening under the stars.
Day 3
Flight to Kasanka National Park
After breakfast around the campfire, transfer to Mfuwe Airport for a 50-minute flight to Kasanka National Park. Arrive in time for lunch and spend the afternoon birdwatching along the Luwombwa River. Keep an eye out for rare species like the African finfoot, Ross’s turaco, Pel’s fishing owl, and osprey. Return to camp for dinner and a restful night.
Day 4
Wildlife and Bird Watching in Kasanka
Today is dedicated to exploring Kasanka National Park, a hidden gem teeming with wildlife and birdlife. Spot Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, sable antelope, reedbuck, and the rare blue monkey. Visit the sitatunga hide, offering panoramic views of the Kapabi Swamp, where you may see up to 40 sitatunga grazing at once.
Day 5
Flight to Bangweulu Swamps
After breakfast, fly to the Bangweulu Swamps, arriving at Shoebill Camp. Begin your search for the extraordinary shoebill by boat and on foot. Return to camp for lunch and head out again in the afternoon to witness herds of black lechwe and other antelope species. Enjoy a simple yet hearty dinner before retiring for the night.
Day 6
Bird Watching in Bangweulu, Shoebill Camp
Spend the day immersed in the birdlife of the Bangweulu Swamps. Visit a hide at dawn or dusk to witness thousands of waterfowl flying overhead. This is also your best chance to spot the shoebill in its natural habitat. Relax and soak in the serene beauty of this unique ecosystem.
Day 7
Flight to Lusaka, Overnight at Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower
Fly back to Lusaka for an overnight stay at the Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower. Reflect on your incredible journey and prepare for your return home.

Departure
