7 Days Best Of Both – Luambe and North Luangwa National Parks Safari
This Zambia safari itinerary offers a rare and immersive journey through some of the most remote and untouched wilderness areas in the country – Luambe National Park and North Luangwa National Park. Designed for travellers seeking exclusivity and authentic bush experiences, this safari focuses on walking safaris, low tourism density, and exceptional wildlife encounters.
Your adventure begins with a flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe, followed by a scenic road transfer into Luambe National Park – one of Zambia’s least visited parks and home to just a single camp, offering a truly private safari experience. Luambe Camp sits along the Luangwa River, where hippos, elephants, and predators are regularly seen right from camp.
The journey then continues deeper into the wild with a road transfer into North Luangwa, widely regarded as Zambia’s last true wilderness. At North Luangwa River Lodge, you will explore a pristine ecosystem known for its strong conservation success, including the reintroduction of black rhino, as well as large herds of buffalo, lion, and endemic species like Cookson’s wildebeest.
This itinerary is ideal for those searching for a remote African safari, walking safari in Zambia, and a true wilderness experience far from the crowds.

Arrive at camp, check in, and relax before dinner. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short introductory activity or simply take in the river views.

You will have two full days to explore Luambe National Park, one of Zambia’s most exclusive and untouched safari destinations.
As the only camp in the park, Luambe offers a private safari experience, where sightings are intimate and uncrowded. The park is known for strong leopard activity, large hippo populations, and excellent birdlife along the Luangwa River.
Activities (2 per day) include: Morning and afternoon game drives, guided walking safaris, night drives for nocturnal wildlife, and optional sleep-out experiences under the stars. Between activities, relax at camp overlooking the river, often with wildlife visible directly from your room.
Day 4
Transfer to North Luangwa National Park
After breakfast, depart Luambe and travel by road into North Luangwa National Park, one of Africa’s most remote and least visited parks.
The journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, depending on road conditions, and passes through untouched landscapes and remote villages – part of the adventure itself.
Upon arrival at North Luangwa River Lodge, check in and relax. Depending on arrival time, you may head out for an afternoon activity before dinner.
Day 5&6

This region offers a truly wild safari experience, with sightings of:
• Black rhino (reintroduced population)
• Large buffalo herds
• Lion, leopard, and wild dog
• Endemic species such as Cookson’s wildebeest
