This 9-night safari combines three exceptional camps across Kafue National Park, offering a comprehensive exploration of Zambia’s largest and one of Africa’s most diverse national parks. Traveling across three distinct ecological zones – the southern plains, the Lake Itezhi-Tezhi region, and the northern Busanga floodplains – this itinerary showcases the full spectrum of Kafue’s wildlife, habitats, and landscapes.
By connecting these contrasting regions, guests experience open dambos, dense woodlands, vast lake shores, river systems, and seasonal floodplains – each supporting different concentrations of wildlife and predator dynamics. This carefully designed north-to-south journey ensures variety, exclusivity, and exceptional game viewing throughout.
Seasonality: This itinerary is best experienced between June and November, when the Busanga Plains are accessible and wildlife congregates around permanent water sources, providing outstanding viewing opportunities.

9 nights’ accommodation (3 nights at Plains Camp, 3 nights at Lake Camp, 3 nights at Kasonso Busanga Camp), all meals, 2 scheduled safari activities per night stay, park fees, and conservation levies.

The Itinerary
Days 1-3
Southern Kafue - Nanzhila Plains Camp (3 Nights)
Your safari begins in the remote southern sector of Kafue National Park. After arriving in Livingstone, you are transferred by road to Nanzhila Plains Camp for a three-night stay.
This area is characterised by open dambos and dense woodland, offering a private safari experience far from the more frequented northern routes. The untouched wilderness and low visitor numbers make for an intimate and authentic bush experience.
Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, and guided bush walks.
Highlights: The region is noted for lion and sightings of rare antelope such as roan and sable. Night drives here frequently reveal smaller predators and nocturnal species, including serval, civet, and honey badgers.
Days 4-7
Lake Itezhi-Tezhi – Nanzhila Lake Camp (3 Nights)
On day four, you head north to the shores of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi to stay at Nanzhila Lake Camp for three nights.
The camp overlooks the Musa Riverbed, where the receding waters during the dry season attract large concentrations of wildlife. The open landscapes and lake shoreline create a different ecosystem from the southern plains, adding variety to your safari.
Activities Include: Game drives along the shoreline and seasonal boating or fishing on the lake.
Highlights: This sector is known for high densities of “mega-herbivores,” specifically large herds of elephant and buffalo. The open terrain also provides excellent visibility for spotting lion, leopard, and occasionally wild dog.
Days 7-9
Busanga Plains – Kasonso Busanga Camp (3 Nights)
The final leg of the journey takes you to the northern tip of Kafue National Park, where you will stay at Kasonso Busanga Camp for three nights.
The Busanga Plains are a seasonal wetland famous for vast horizons and some of the best predator viewing in Southern Africa. During the dry season, the floodplains attract large numbers of herbivores, which in turn draw impressive concentrations of predators.
Game drives across the open plains offer outstanding opportunities to observe lion prides, cheetahs, leopards, and occasionally wild dogs, often against dramatic sunrise and sunset backdrops. The sweeping landscapes and abundant wildlife provide a spectacular finale to your Kafue safari adventure.
Day 10
Departure
After an early morning breakfast, transfer to Lusaka / Livingstone International Airport for your flight back home or to your next adventure. Marking the end of your unforgettable safari.
